Wise Installation Studio 7.0 / Windows 7 64bit download redistributables

Created: 22 Jul 2013 | 2 comments

We are in the process of getting new Windows 7 64 bit machines.  Right now we have Wise 7 installed on XP and building installs works fine.  When I was installing Wise 7 on my Windows 7 machine it worked fine.  When I tried to build a install I got the message about needing redistributables.  I downloaded the following file 'WPSModules.exe ' from  I installed that and I still get the error about needing redistributables when building.  If I still have my working XP machine, is there a folder I can go to and copy over everything from it to my new Windows 7 64bit machine and make this work?  Is there a registry entry I need to update?

Wise 7 was end of lifed some years ago and the redistributables are woefully out of date. You need to establish which redistributables you are needing for your packages and then go from there. As you are moving from 32 bit to 64 bit, you may need to build your own redistributables library.

If your issue has been solved, please use the "Mark as Solution" link on the most relevant thread.

Why not ProcMon the installation process? (Have I mentioned ProcMon before? I'm not sure...)

That will show you EXACTLY what the installer is looking for and you can either locate the old stuff and copy it over or "ghost" it, i.e. create a new version which looks like the old, just to satisfy the installer.

Don't know why 'x' happened? Want to know why 'y' happened? Use ProcMon and it will tell you.
Think about using before posting.
