Wise Installer Studio 8.0 /Upgrade to Wise Package Studio
Updated: 27 May 2010 | 4 comments
Hi forum,
no idea if I am right here for my question, but may I am :-)
My company uses Wise Installer Studio 7.0 SP1. Due to the UAC issues with
WinVista and Win7 we need the functionality the "Wise Installer Editor 8.0" as brought with the "Package Studio"
provides. I tried it out using your demo of the "Wise Package Studio" and it
works fine.
So I would like to know if there will be a Wise Installer Studio 8.0 in near
future since we do not need the whole package studio. If not, I would like to
ask what an upgrade from our license "Wise Installer Studio 7.0 SP1" would
cost to use the "Wise Package Studio 8.0".
Thank you very much,
Torben

No WIS 8 plans
The Wise product manager has told me there are no current plans to release WIS8, although a service pack to WIS 7 is under development, but with no release date available.
For upgrade pricing you need to contact a reseller, as pricing information is not available in these user forums.

ServicePack
Hi EdT,
thank you for the information.
Do you know if the ServicePack will provide extended UAC features for configuring windows installer like it's possible in the "Package Studio"? I'm aiming at the elevation of our msi.
Kind regards,
Torben
Sorry, no idea
The content and the release date of any service packs for Wise products have always been classified "Top Secret" and only announced once the service pack has been released.
You may be able to get information after signing a non disclosure agreement and donating your internal organs and a spare limb or two, but since the code sets for WIS and WPS are pretty much the same, it would not be unreasonable to expect the next WIS service pack to offer similar enhancements to the current WPS8 release.

Thank you, EdT. Well, I'd better save my limbs this time and hope the needed features will be found in the SP. :-)
