WLM (MSN) signing issue with Symantec Web Gateway
Created: 10 Oct 2012 | 1 comment
Hi Guys,
We have two SWG 8540 Dell appliances. Users are not able to sign in using WLM (Windows Live Messenger) through SWG. We have configured HTTPS port to be 8443 in browser (IE) settings and SSL inspection is enabled on SWG boxes as well but WLM is not getting signed in. When we bypass SWG appliances same WLM signs in perfectly.
Please confirm do we have to import SWG SSL self signed certificate as well for WLM to work through SWG using SSL deep packet inspection? Or is there any other way to get WLM working?
Regards,

You may want to not proxy for that traffic by adding a proxy exception for those servers/hosts. If WLM can accept/trust a 3rd party certificate you could import a trusted certificate.
