Hi All, I am fairly new to Altiris and have been learning mainly from user guides and forums. I am trying to find out the best way to power computers on through Altiris. As stated in the title we are on Altiris 7.5 SP1 I think HF3. I know that power management can be handeled through ASF, DASH, IPMI, or Intel AMT and I am interested if anyone has that working for one. When we looked in to usign Intel AMT we found it to be very cumbersom requiring a each individual desktop to be configured with a particular set of software tied to the version of the NIC and that was just Intel, we didn't even look at Broadcom. I have seen reference to WOL in many pervious versions up to 7.1 sometime I think, does anyone know when it was removed so I can find release notes to prove such to my CIO? Secondly, how are people powering computers on in 7.5 SP1?

Apart from Out-of-Band solution being deprecated I don;t think Wake-On_LAN has changed significantly in 7.5: "How does WOL work in the Symantec Management Platform version 7.x?" http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO60817 If you can configure your network to pass the Wake-On-LAN packets the Task: Power Control should work.
