Word from Base
Updated: 29 Jul 2010 | 5 comments
Hi
We have a application in layer that launches Word (from base). If this is first time Word is launched it ask Username etc. Problem is that this information goes to layer not to base where it should go.
If we add Word into program ignore list, Word is unable to see inside layer where template doc is created.
Any ideas?

Corporate or end user environment?
If you are in a corporate environment, perhaps the solution is to ensure that the first boot after a workstation is rebuilt with a clean version of Office, includes an automatic start of each Office application via a runonce registry key, so that the personalisation can take place and be recorded in the users HKCU/Software/Microsoft/etc registry key.
However, you could also try excluding the specific registry keys associated with the user information so that they don't go into the layer, rather than excluding Word entirely.
If your issue has been solved, please use the "Mark as Solution" link on the most relevant thread.
You can also try a granular
You can also try a granular isolation rule that hides winword.exe running in the base from seeing wherever that registry key is.

Registry Excludes?
Thanks.
This is corporate environment. Problem is that there could be several users in same computer, so runonce don't work (or it could work in default user).
How can we do registry excludes ?? (6.1 SP1)

You can't because they don't
You can't because they don't exist in the product.

Maybe in next version
I hope :)
I try granular isolation tomorrow.
