This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi All.

We have a situation where upon installing McAfee Anti-Virus Patch 8,  the 5400 engine, and HIPS patch 5, the Workspace Virtualization 6.1 immediatly will stop them from working leaving us without a working Antivirus and Host Intrusion software.

Is there a way to prevent the Workspace Virtualization software from talking with or seeing the security software?  Can we hide it from the machine, other then the layers we will be installing?

Thanks for pointing me in the

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Jordan.

I want to follow up, just in case anyone has the same versions that we do.  The KB article KB59863, located here, https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB59863 is related to VirusScan Enterprise (VSI) 8.7I.  Although similar to my issue in that the installer isn't laying down the registry keys correctly, it does not resolve the issue on VSI 8.5.  The key's are different.  The KB has 3 keys that need to be changed and for 8.5, there is only 1 key that needs to be changed and it's different from the 3 they outline.

McAfee does have a hotfix for 8.5 and it fixes the issue, however, here is the HKLM key that resolves it.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\mfehidk]
"start"=dword:00000001

All we're doing here is changing the key from "OFF" on startup to "ON" on startup.
