WorlkFlow Resource Booking System

Greetings,
I am to build a resource booking system with Altiis WorkFlow and Asset Mangement.
Has anyone done this before or have any pointers for me
Id wouldnt like to reinevent the wheel.
I have started out with the installation of workflow and Asset Management and now want to have users connect ot helpdesk and request a resource then have the asset/resource booked out after approval.

Are you going to involve (insert email client here) to book the resource or is there something in the Asset Management side of things that allows booking? I'm sorry, I'm not really familiar with the AM solution and its capabilities.
