WS2008 Core Hyper-V and RDC problems

Windows Server 2008 64 bit Core Edition with only Hyper-V Role. After installing SEP client MR4 MP1a (plus hotfix for 64bit) with experience problems connecting to Core with Remote Desktop, also when connecting with RD to some virtual machines (with WS2008 64bit also) with often get disconnected with the error:

Because of an error in data encryption, this session will end.

Also if we manage to connect to one of the virtual machines, then a Hyper-V manager console installed there doesnt see any of the virtual machines.

All problems dissapear after removing SEP client from the Core version. SEP clients installed on the virtual machines doesnt affect.

Probably this could be NTP module again. Anybody else seeing such behavior? I will try to export a setup package without the NTP and install it again.

UPD: the problem indeed is with NTP. I have tried installing only AV and AS and we didnt see previous problems. Is there any fix already provided or maybe planned?

I'd also be interested

Hello, we also use Hyper-V but have to try out the new versions.

So just wanted to let people know that I'm interested in this too.

Any other known issues with 64-bit?

What is the 64-bit hotfix you're talking about, what does it fix?

Logs?

Do you see anything in the traffic or security logs for the client?

Sorry for not answering for a long. I haven't received any notification, though i'm subscribed to this post.

Paul, where exactly should i look? Though, i'm not sure if these logs werent overwritten or deleted after the uninstall and installation without NTP module.

tyoud, 64-bit fix is for the issue with Windows Server 2008 shares and DFS. Without that fix shares could lock up for the clients.

Paul Just wondering is

Paul

Just wondering is Symantec found a fix for this issue yet? I'm having the same probelm. I got a windows 2008 64Bit with Hyper-V enabled and during logon it stuck on Update User Details. The funny thing is if I leave it to time out then try again it will be normal again for the whole day. Until next day or two it will go back to slow login. This problem only happen after SEP installed and if I remove SEP it will be fine. I've even upgraded to the latest SEP MR4 MP1.

I dont have a solution yet.

I dont have a solution yet. Yesterday i have emailed all my issues (including this one) to Symantec Baltic support (i'm from Lithuania). Symantec reseller told he will try to push them to solve my issues :) Though i doubt i'll get answer very soon.

I've started doing some

I've started doing some configuration on the network card. I suspect the issue might be on the SNP function on the network card. So I started disabling the RSS and Chimney functions. As I said this problem is so weird that it doesn't happen all the time. After waiting for the initial RDP session to time out it will be fine for the whole day. I guess it was worst before I upgrade to SEP MR4 MP1. But the problem still there.

I even have both Proactive and Network threat protection disabled and the problem still there.
