WSC Warning
Updated: 23 May 2010 | 7 comments
I am using SEP MR4 in Windows Vista. My antivirus status is up-to-date. The client is an unmanaged one. I have set a scan schedule at 10 pm every day. The strange thing is that when the schedule scan starts the Windows Security Center (WSC) gives windows security alert. If I open the WSS it shows SEP is out of date and also spyware and malware protection are out of date. But the SEP is showing that it is uptodate.
What is the reason for it?

RE: WSC warning
Somehow this looks more like the WSC issue than Symantec and it can probably be a race condition but the chances are less.
Just to let you know, We also have a Sophos Environment at the moment and this is a well known issue with it.

But Sandeep, if a few days back I had been running Trendmicro, and I never got this type of problem. Do I need to change any settings in WSC or SEP?
Configuration? I don't think so......
I don't think that can be configured other than the number of days to look at to state that the definitions are old. But you should open up a case with Symantec as well.

Thaks Paul for your link. The link is showing how to customize the WSC in case of managed environment, but I have unmanaged client installed in the machine.
Alternatives
If you are okay with that workaround, Then you can export an unmanaged package from the SEPM with that configuration.

Rename the WMI repository
Chances are that the WMI repository is corrupted. Cleaning it out helps to resolve the issue. There is a Microsoft KB for that somewhere, i just dont have it available offhand.
