What version are you trying to install? Is it version 12.1 or 11.0?

Change Web publishing service startup type to Manual and start the service. After the installation change back to Automatic.

    Hello,

Symantec has provided the correct suggestion for repairing the wmi component.

    1) Uninstall the SEPM from Programs and Features in Control Panel

    2) Re-register/re-compile the WMI components.

    Check this Thread:

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-IE/winservergen/thread/96ef98d1-0de1-4fa9-b322-bf150c82cd46

    3. Reboot the server.

    4. Install the SEPM

    Hope that helps!!
