  • 1.  XP Firewall exceptions using files/programs in SEP 11

Hi What programs do I need to enable in the Firewall on the local machine to allow SEP 11 to communicate with server and update via web? We are currently using XP SP3 and the local firewall. On our local machines the firewall is completely locked down with only specific ports open and programs granted access via the exceptions tab. I know the specific ports but I cant find any information regarding the corresponding programs that are used for communication.

See  "Which Communication Ports does Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 use"

When you install SEP programs are automatically added to the firewall for exception
    However these are the programs
    SMC Service
    C\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\Smc.exe

    SNAC Service
    C\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\SNAC.EXE

    Symantec Email
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe

And the ports you need to exclude are
Port  TCP 8014 if your SEPM is 11.0.3001xxx or above.
If its Below 11.0.3001.xxxx then its TCP 80
