  • 1.  you initiate a custom scan will the Mac clients receive the scan request? Does the Mac client also need to be on SEP 12.1.4013.4013 (RU4) for it to receive the scan request and execute it?

    Hello,

    I have two queries?

    1. when we initiate a custom scan will the Mac clients receive the scan request?

    2. Does the Mac client also need to be on SEP 12.1.4013.4013 (RU4) for it to receive the scan request and execute it?

If the command came from the SEPM than yes.

No, SEP for Mac has been supported by the SEPM for awhile so you do not need to be on the latest version.

    Hi Brian,

    Thanks for the info.

but before RU4 version i had observed mac user were not receiving any popup on their machine to run a full scan. so on RU4 version are they receiving?

i dont have any mac test machine to check on that hence i have raised this query.

Is it not running in the background?

There had been some changes RU4 but its not specific. I don't have a Mac in front of me to test

I am not sure about that . i just give scan command from console without knowing whether client is getting that request or not.

Check the status of the command sent from the SEPM

Monitors page >> Command Status tab

Whatever the cmd issues will be under

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\data\outbox\agent\command

Clients will pick those cmds during the next heart beat cycle ( push mode / pull mode)

Custom scans are availabe for MAC
