Classification exclusion in forms

Created: 23 Août 2012 | 9 comments

Hi,

Something I miss in HelpDesk 6 is the ability to mark things inactive.   Like groups/queues and classifications/categories.   But...  nothing to mark these options as inactive in ServiceDesk.   To do the groups, I will have to filter them out in workflow. It is not ideal but what can I do.   The classification is the rub.   Any ideas how to exclude classifications from the picker?

How is this going to work with SD 7.5 (I will call it by my code name for it "hamburger".   I was eating lunch and I spilled some grease on the documentation.   Now when I look at the documentation, I smell hamburger) because the code is "locked down"... dunno...   I am curious to see how they setup hamburger for us to make a change.   Anyone hear if they are going to put inactive options on groups and classifications in hamburger?

Thanks,

Jamie

I was looking into being able to create classifications per group which I think you can already do in the current version but will be easier in SD7.5 because of the export functionality. This way each group could have its own set of categories and I've done a sample project to test it out and it works.

The feature you're looking for isn't in the SD 7.5 beta either.

Make sure you create an "idea" about making things inactive. I am sure this question has come up at least  couple of times before.

I'm still shocked that when Symantec created ServiceDesk that they didn't take a look at what made Altiris Helpdesk good and try to replicate over to ServiceDesk and improve upon them. Instead they took it into a direction that frankly nobody wanted and is now coming back around to putting the same features we had in Altiris Helpdesk (email templates, rulesets, etc)

It would also be nice if Symantec actually gave us a real search form, something that is fundamental to any Service Desk product but they don't seem to think it's needed but hey, we can always buy it from ITS for another $5000. /sarcasm

I am not having warm feelings with hamburger here.

I am not sure if my company is willing to call in ITS or someone else for Hamburger Helper.   <thank you very much...I am here all week.>

Our company doesn't like to spend money on hamburgers if we don't have to. We'd rather use a coupon and get it free with groceries we bought.

There is always the consideration of not going with hamburger and looking at "Heat"ed pot roast, chicken ala HP Service Management, or  Remedy ala mode.

So many choices...  Just finding chefs that will work with your requests.

Do those come with a free search function coupon with purchase?
