Policy schedule

I have Netbackup 6.5.6 version running on windows server 2003.

I have created two policy for one server

1, Weekly full backup: - Scheduled on weekly once on sunday and skipped last Sunday

2, Monthly full backup: - Scheduled on last sunday of the month.

Above configuration is working perfictly if we have 5 sundays in a month.

But if we have only 4 sundays in a month then on 4th sunday weekly and monthly backup will run at a time and one of the backup is getting failed.

Please advise me how to schedule the backups for those two policies.

In case if we have 5 sundays in a month, weekly backup should run on 4 sundays and last (5th) sunday monthly backup should run. If there is only 4 sundays in a month, weekly backup should run on 3 sundays and last (4th) sunday monthly backup should run.

Please help me to fix this issue.

I've never tested, but I think this may work.

* create one policy with two schedules - one for weekly full backup, and another for monthly full backup.
* weekly schedule has 1st to 4th Sunday as run day
* monthly schedule has last Sunday as run day
* start time of monthly is earlier than weekly

I agree - add both schedules to the same policy.

NBU should be clever enough to run monthly schedule only and not weekly as well when both are due within the same policy at the same time.

Advice (absoloutly free):

Do not mix data protection plan i multiple policies. Netbackup schedules backup on a per policy basic and not per server basic. Thus Netbackup does not arrange backup across policies for single serves.

Assumption is the mother of all mess ups.
