We have been somewhat successful stopping the installation in the first place by turning up the sensitivity of the Proactive Threat Protection.

This PC was re-imaged with Altiris. First a month ago & then again today. Every one of those objects has a unique ID. SEP is not part of the image. It only get installed after the base OS has booted for the first time. Maybe I should wait ...

Does not rely on specific monitor policies. I believe it is driven by the summary data. So if you're using task server (which if you are on v7, you most certainly are), they ctfmon.exe will show up.
