As the "go to" guy for SEP on campus an interesting question came up, "How can I get a list of my machines that are actually running on SEP?" The SEP Manager (SEPM) has quite a few options, but the reports section seemed to be missing an option to export a list of all your machines. After searching around, I did find a solution.

I helped an admin out yesterday who was running out of disk space on a system. It turns out a very large email folder in Thunderbird was triggering a virus alert and an attempt to clean it up, but the cleaning failed. As such, the file was left in quarantine and left on the file system. Each time a scan ran, this happened again and the hard drive slowly filled up.

SEP Migration

We have currently architected our SEP migration and will be implimenting within the year. Testing has been going well and I am willing to discuss this with anyone in the group. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Iowa Security Management and Compliance User Group - launches May 13

We are very pleased to announce the launch of the Iowa Security Management & Compliance User Group! Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, May 13 from 12:30pm to 3:00pm at Principal Financial in Des Moines.

This meeting will include a presentation on SEP migration best practices by Symantec Systems Engineer, Karl Fultz. We will also have the pleasure of hearing Principal Financial discuss their current use of Enterprise Vault.

Finally, we will organize the Advisory Board Leadership for our new User Group and give away some great prizes including a Slingbox HD! Lunch will be provided!
