From what I have read, if you want to use the new VMware Data Recovery, and get your backups onto tape, you will still need to use VCB, at least for the time being. I also heard that VCB 1.5 update 1 will be the last version of VCB, and that the new backup APIs in vSphere are going to be the *new* way to backup your VMs. (Not 100% sure this is true, however).

You may be able to deploy the Mcafee ePO client to PC's but it may not be able to communicate with the server. The following script adds the needed exception to the Windows firewall so that it may establish communication. This script can also be easily modified to allow the import of any registry value with a little effort.
