Adding an install script for the Rolling patches like the MP's for Solaris would be very helpful.
Lately Rolling Patches have been patching all the products so it takes time to figure out all the patches that need to be installed.

Sites like Yahoo continiueouly rate limit e-mail traffic. They do not support SPF, but rather Domain Keys. It would benefficial if Symantec could add Domain Key support to the Brightmail Gateway.

Hello Everyone,
It would be good if new definitions are included in the client install package when it is exported through Admin tab on SEPM. I see two major advantages with it....
1. Client gets current protection the moment SEP is installed and services start running.
2. Infected machines that are taken off the network for resolution, can be taken care easily.
I hope there is a way so that while exporting client install package, it may be able to include new definitions, since SEPM has new definitions plus most SEPM has also SEP installed for their OS file system protection.
Sincerely thank you!

If you use Administrator credentials with the LDAP synchronisation process, the password is transmitted across the network in clear text. It would be great if the LDAP synchronisation process supported LDAPS.
Thank you

Am I the first to request the ability to sort clients in SEPM "as desired" across several pages of client information?
IDEA:
In Clients, on the Clients tab, allow us to to click the column header to sort by "Name", for instance, and have ALL the pages sort by Name. Then, I'd not only know what page my client is most likely to be found on, but I would also know I'm seeing ALL the "AA132's" together, or ALL the staff computers on 2nd floor Science building (S200-LLLLLLF).
HERE'S WHY:
At this college, we have naming conventions for rooms, computers and userIDs. In Student Computer Labs, the Computer Names/UserIDs are based on room number and then numeric order. For instance, in the "ARTS" building Computer Lab in room "A132", there are 25 computers, so they're named A132-01, A132-02, -03, ...-25. I have all our Student Lab computers in groups. There are typically...

The console should show the PTP signature date of the client in the client list rather than double click on a particular client to see the PTP detail

Allow end users to move items between folders within Archive Explorer. Changing folders in turn allows users to change the Retention Category. With EV 8, this is possible by moving shortcuts. It seems like it would only be a little more work to enable the same thing directly from Archive Explorer, without being dependent on shortcuts.

Can the DRP be automatic when the SEPM is being installed? Gathering all the required information by a post install process and storing them....say in...."C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Backup".......and creating a new registry key for the location.
And the pre-install process checking the key and rebuilding the server as an option with the GUI...........This part might be tough, lot of code change but I think it's an entirely new module and then jumping to the regular install.

I personally feel it would be beneficial to have a "Report this User" button or link that would notify the correct individuals about a particular user.
Connect is a place for people to help one another and benefit from the knowledge of those in the same type of profession, using the same technologies. When people post comments that tear others down or act like that person is an idiot, they should get reported and either get a notification saying someone reported their post or have a point system to block their account when max points have been reached. Points could be removed after a time limit. Something like the first point will be removed after 30 days of no more reports. If you get reported another time before that point is taken off, you have 2points and now are waiting 60 days for the initial point to be taken away.
I think this would also be helpful in finding and nabbing the individuals that are simply coming onto connect and posting...

When selecting the Search Vaults icon in Outlook --> Advanced find --> age, the user does not have the ability to search by a date range (beginning and end date) but rather only a before or after specified time frame. Additionally, if the Browser search button is enabled the customer can perform this search but also has the ability to perform restores.
We would like to implement the date range (beginning and end date) functionality into the age button so that users do not need to be given restore capabilities (through the serach.asp page) in order to perform a search for archived emails based on a date range.
Thanks,
Matt

(re-posting previous requested item)
When we export a SEP client package from the SEPM console "Install Packages" view, the exported package contains old content, which means that once that package is installed, the new SEP client will need to retrieve new content from the SEPM or Liveupdate. We know there is a KB article that explains how to add the latest content to an exported package but we would like to see this happen automatically in the SEPM console when you export.

Truscan (heuristic scanning part of Proactive Threat Protection) should also run on Windows Server OSes. Today it only runs on workstation OSes (XP, etc).

Require Symantec to provide a boot CD (or instructions on how to create one), so we can boot from this CD and fully scan a machine, without having to load Windows. This can be very useful when attempting to detect or remove a stubborn threat / trojan / virus, especially when the threat can't be removed, even via Windows Safe Mode.
Being able to also run this via USB key would be ideal.

hi,
not sure if this has been added as Idea, if yes, sorry for duplicating it.
SEPM console should have provision to differentiate the GUP from rest other clients. While troubl;eshooting ot will help.
We have other way open LU policy and check the GUP machine, which seems to be bit time consuming in matter of few seconds, though differeentiating in terms of icon will definetly help.
Cheers
Pete

If a company can bring out a product that defrags your hard drive with zero impact to your system, im sure Symantec can work on the impact caused while running a full system scan
We need a anti virus product which is lean and zero impact so it feels you dont even have a symantec antivirus product installed!

When I view clients in the SEPM console I have about 6 pages of them. I click on Name or some other heading to sort them alphabetically but going to the next page they are unsorted again. I would like to see them all at once like it was in Ver 10.

We've investigated a little bit further this issue by putting traces on the BACKINT. We found that backint use a bplist command to find the files to be restored. This bplist command fails to retrieve any backed up files.
The bplist command generated by backint uses multiple options. 2 of them cause an error to be reported in stead of a list of files : the -r and -X option (the latter being undocumented).
I think we'll get in touch with the support to continue on this case as we found...

The basic functionality of the new search is working, although it's not themed. The final version will be fully styled and look MUCH better.
While we theme it we wanted to let you look at the functionality and comment on two things:
1) Is it working as expected?
2) Would you prefer the search filters to be on the left rather than the right?
On item #2, if we move it to the left it will likely delay the release of the search functionality by a couple of weeks. Would you prefer to wait for us to move it to the left or do you just want it released now?

In SAV Reporter, a virus alert email contained much more information about the risk by including the file/path of the virus. This information is crucial when it comes to finding the risk on the affected system. With SEPM, the virus alert email contains very limited information. Yes, I know it's possible to look at SEPM and find more information, but obviously it's not always practical.
Please see this thread for more info:
https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/ema...
Please modify SEPM virus alert emails to contain more information, particularly the filename/path.
Thank You

BackupExec already has a complete alerting system - email, pager, etc, and sends numerous alerts and reports automatically - however it doesn't send any alerts when a backup is missed. This would be really useful to have as we get alerts for failed backups so why not for missed backups - e.g. no media available. In our environment a missed backup is a failed backup.
