I think it would be a good idea if the moderators would be able to retroactively award answers in threads where the OP hasn't posted in x amount of weeks/months. Especially if the answer on the thread is known to be the decisive solution. That is all. : )

I've been involved in similar "cleanup" efforts on other sites (in particular, Experts-Exchange.com). The usual method was for an admin/"Page Editor" to review the thread, leave a comment suggesting a proposed Solution(s) and then come back in 1 week to award if there was no reply. That site was a bit different since the question asker had a limited number of points to ask questions with, but the Experts did get points for an Answer.
Thanks,

For Forum threads, please click "Mark as Solution" if answered.
For all content, please give a thumbs up if you agree with or support the post.
The moderators all strive to do this as often as possible. However, if you see a post that is obviously the answer to a question, please feel free to PM the author or the community manager with a link and we will be happy to mark the solution.
Thanks!
Excellent to hear. I was thinking the same methodology as experts-exchange too!
