agent_restart trigger

Status: On Roadmap

VCS restarts agents when they aren't responding, but there is no trigger that gets called when an agent is restarted to take any special action (e.g. notification).  Can you please consider adding an agent_restart trigger?

Hi Seann,

I am interested in your idea.  In your environment, what steps would you like to be performed if the agent restarts?
Currently, there is an entry into the engine log when this happens.  Is there something else you would like to occur?

I would like a trigger to be called so that I can send an e-mail to my group that an agent restarted.

Hi Seann,

Do you currently use the SMTP or SNMP notification within VCS?
Would it work for you to ensure that Agent restarts are captured by the VCS notifier?

We do not use the notifier.  It has a low signal-to-noise ratio, and our e-mail alerts have many different e-mail distribution lists depending on the type of event that occurs.  We also do not parse engine_A.log looking for errors.  We need an agent_restart trigger to be called when an agent restarts.  Even though I only send an e-mail right now, I want the capability to be able to take more actions should we deem it necessary.

This feature was delivered in the product.  There is a ResRestarted Trigger implemented in 6.0.1.
