Altiris NS 7 on the Download Page
2 Agree, 0 Disagree
When I decided to upgrade to NS7, I could not find a separate downloadable item on Symantec Download page for NS7.
To upgrade from HD6 to SD7, I had first to download and install NS7, then install SD solution to it. And since, there is no NS7-only download available, I had to download CMS 7, which downloads NS7, then add SD7solution to it.
It would be really nice if Symantec adds NS7 as a download item to it's Download page, so that we do not get confused when we need to download/install solutions other that CMS.
Hello Mustafa, I have not
Hello Mustafa,
I have not installed NS7 for a while (a month or two), but if I remember well you can only download the Symantec Installation Manager (SIM, which is only about 20MB, right?) and then when you run it (after it installed on your server) you can select what you want download and install.
So I suspect the confusion probably comes from the fact that by default CMS is preselect, or do you think this is a documentation issue?

No Download Available for SIM
Hello,
You are correct. We should download SIM first then install the required solution.
The point is, there no download available for Symantec Installation Manager in the download page. You have to select one of Altiris 7 solutions, which will download the SIM for you. And here comes the confusion.
My suggestion is to add SIM to the download page, so that users can download only SIM and then select the required solutions when they run it.

Mustafa
I agree with you :D

Well, thank you Ludovic, I
Well, thank you Ludovic,
I hope Symantec takes an action regarding this, as the new Altiris 7 solutions are getting more comprehensive and the first step to use it is to download it. However, you will not be able to download and use it unless u have some experience with the old versions of Altiris soltions.
Regards,
Mustafa
