Hello,

One of my customers would like to have a better pop-up windows when a scan is running. This window should have:
1. A graphically improved interface
2. Bigger (and clearer) buttons for "pause" and "stop"
3. A customizable message, in stead of just "Antivirus scan in Progress"

Thanks.

1. A graphically improved interface
I think present graphics is sufficient. More graphics may reduce the performance of the client pc
2. Bigger (and clearer) buttons for "pause" and "stop"
This is a good idea.
3. A customizable message, in stead of just "Antivirus scan in Progress"
Currently this option is available with scheduled scans only. For manual scan the name full scan/active scan sufficient I believe.

Please don't forget to mark your thread solved with whatever answer helped you : ) Thanks & Regards Aravind

1. A graphically improved "interface" means "improved popup" (no impact on performance). It would be a nice enhancement if this popup could for example:

    - indicate to the user that this is a popup from Symantec Antivirus. Today, the title of the popup is "Full scan started" --> the words "Symantec" and "Antivirus" do not appear anywhere, which is confusing for many standard used, which wonder what is this popup (we had this feedback in our company, from many users).

    - Bigger and clearer "pause" and "stop" buttons (not just small icons lost somewhere in the upper-left corner).   We've had a lot of performance issues with the full scan and a lot of users complaining and is to some extent it is interesting to be able to let them the choice to pause the scan, with a clear text/button indicating this possibility    [--> this is point 2]

    - Maybe a simpler popup with only "progress status", and a "details" button for advanced or interested users who want to view the detailed technical operations performed by the antivirus (file paths...)

    - Better information message  [--> this is point 3]

3. I think it is possible to customize information messages that are displayed when a virus is found, but not the messages inside the popup which announces the scan. It is for example not possible (or I don"t know how to do it?) to add a message in French or other non-English language inside the popup.

They do need to be optional however.

We have a significant number of customers who would complain loudly if we suddenly used new (and more memory intensive) dialog boxes for scans.

If you make it pretty, make sure it's not too pretty....one of the ways I educate my users about distinguishing scareware popups from SEP's is that SEP's popup is plain and ugly!

It has also been the same for something like 5+ years. That does help people to identify our popups.

good discussion. I can see mostly the arguments against changing the widow appearance - really like the one about scareware! One setting that does seem confusing is the behaviour of "snooze". The scan starts from the beginning again when it is un-snoozed, as opposed to pause which only pauses it for it to resume form the last point. Why on earth even have that? Did someone forget to get rid of it ?
