Backup Exec and SBS Console Integration

Partially Implemented
Windows SBS 2008 has been a supported platform for Backup Exec for years now, but I'm told there's been no attempt made to report the backup status to the SBS Console. It's embarassing to sell a client a "supported" backup solution, only to have them greeted with a big red "X" and "error" next to "Backup" every time they log in to their server.

Good idea. We have this for EBS now
We do have this capability today for Microsoft EBS Serverhttp://www.microsoft.com/ebs/en/us/default.aspx and have had it in the past for SBS.
Here is what the EBS 2008 version looks like. Let us know if this is along the lines of what you are looking for.

The “BE 2010 for Windows SBS” package could have some SBS integration, e.g. the SBS 2008 Console includes a status page including “Backup Status” (related to Windows Server Backup). This does not appeared to be modified by the BE 2010 (or BESR 2010) and it should be if this package was intended to support SBS 2008. The example given by Mr. Imming does not address this status page.
As a further rant, personally I am not impressed with the “BE 2010 for Windows SBS” package (part no. 20058377). I don’t see any evidence that “… for Windows SBS” is relevant. There is no cohesive application (like Windows SBS Console) that indicates how the miriad of products and features are to be used within SBS 2008. BE 2010 is loose set of products and assumes that the administrator knows what to do with them. Luckily we have experience using BE on a Windows 2000 Server.
Our BE2010 software was downloaded from the Symantec site. There really is no guide as to what should be downloaded and what each download is for. In the very least, a receivable for our purchase should be a part number specific document that indicates what we’re are getting, how to install it (e.g. installation order) and relevance to SBS 2008. I suspect that “BE 2010 System Recovery Management Solution” is irrelevant in our installation, i.e. since we have only one SBS 2008 installation and do not intend to support any other instance of BE.
I reported problem w.r.t. the inability to start up BE. I had initially installed BESR (successfully). I decided to remove BESR 2010 and BE 2010, rebooted, installed BE 2010 (only). No improvement (the BE GUI application would not start up – MS Windows reports that it was closing the window). I left it for a day. The day after I tried starting the BE GUI. No problem! It started up like “… so what is the problem???”. I was able to perform a backup with errors. I downloaded/installed the recommendations (including revising the installation options) and was then able to perform a complete backup with only two errors (certain .dll files were not backed up).
Anyway, I think there was an interaction between the BESR 2010 (installed first) and BE 2010 (installed second). Installing BESR later did not cause any problems.
