BackupExec: Multi-Streaming/Multi-Plexing options
If it exists, i want to apologize in the beginning because i sure played around with alot of the options for this. One of the GREAT benefits that we have with Netbackup is the ability to multi-stream and multi-plex, meaning while the policy exists for a group of clients or selection lists, that you can initiate the backup on all of those at the same time or at least a certain amount at a time to the same tape or to different locations. Its my frustration on management because i enjoy a single policy point of view for covering my backups but it takes significantly longer because i have to wait for one client or selection list to complete at a time. This way it can initiate the 25 resources at the same time and write to the tape or disk and utilize the bandwith and server time appropriately and wont take me 72 hours to finish a full backup.
Thanks!

Hi all, im new in IT.. i just want to ask if you can give me an idea or tips on how i can size up my hardware specs (like cpu and ram) if i will consolidate all my backup jobs on single server. Is there any rule of thumb if ill will do multi-plexing/multi-streaming? or tool that i can use to size up the HW. i dont want to guess and make an assumption like just buying a quad core machine.
