I believe NetBackup 7 should include support for a Windows 2008 client.  I don't understand why Symantec does not support bare metal restore for a Windows 2008 client in NetBackup 7.0GA.

Support for Win2K8 requires use of Win-PE 2.1 (BMR uses Win-PE from MSFT to setup the basic restore environment)
So in 7.0 GA, Win-PE 2.1 migration has been completed first.
Support for Win2K8 could now be expected in the next major patch after 7.0 GA.

I'm not sure what Win-PE-2.1 is, so I'll be keeping my eye out.  Hopefully the next major 7.0 patch will come out soon.

BMR support for Windows 2008 will be included in NB 7.0.1 (beta program starts soon)
