Hello,

After reading a lot of forum posts and KB articles (http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/311683.htm, http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/310555.htm, http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/342397.htm, http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/352025.htm), it is still not clear what is the difference between BE VSS provider and VMware VSS provider. It is also still not clear which information applies to pre-ESX 3.5u2 and to post ESX 3.5u2.

Also, http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/342397.htm mentions that:
"If you have Pre-freeze-script.bat or Post-thaw-script.bat files files in your system root directory, merge the contents of the scripts from the C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\BE VSS Provider directory to your existing"

As you can see, the above sentence is incomplete, and also it's not clear how exactly we should "merge" our scripts and most importantly, how should we manage error codes (from our own part of the script and from BeVssRequestor.exe call originally present in the script).

For those of us who are used to C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools\backupScripts.d, it is not clear at all what we should use instead of this after installing BE VSS provider (which replaces VMware VSS provider).

Best regards,

Gaston
