Connect: Additional parts to the voting process

There are a couple of recommendations I have on the voting thing:
1) Ive done it myself before, but users should not be able to vote on their own statements or give solutions to their own statements, at least without admin approval.
2) If you get a vote up/down then it would be nice to see who voted for you or against you.
3) Why is a negative vote count for -2 but a positive for only 1? That's extremely annoying.
4) You should be able to challenge when someone gives a negative vote for you for admin review. I've had times that i've given a quality response and there has been negative votes for absolutely no reason.

Hi Outbacker - a few
Hi Outbacker - a few responses to your suggestion:
1) Users can vote on their own content, but they get no rewards points for doing so. The same goes with marking as a solution. We allow them to do this because they may have discovered the solution to a problem after they had posted the question and we'd like other community members to know what that solution is. But again, they get no rewards points for voting on their own content or marking their own comments as a solution.
2) We don't show who voted for or against an item because that would deter some people from voting. We treat it much like an election - votes should be kept private so people feel comfortable expressing their opinion.
3) A negative vote doesn't count for -2. What I would suspect you are seeing is when you vote "agree" for an item then change your mind to "disagree" we need to deduct two points (we first remove your agree vote and then subtract your disagree vote) which means the net change in the score is -2. But if you had voted "disagree" first without first voting agree then we only subtract one point.
4) We get literally thousands of votes a day so if we started listening to challenges for negative votes we'd need to hire a dozen additional admins. The trick is to not take it too personally if somebody votes down your comment or idea. I personally get a lot of negative votes for my comments and that's OK. We're not deducting rewards points when you get negative votes so the only thing it might hurt is your pride.
Hope this helps!
