Copying the Symantec Endpoint Encryption software to DOK by demand
Hi,
My idea/Feature request is this:
At the moment when you use SEE for removable storage feature there are two ways to copy the software to the DOK:
1) the software is copied every time the user plugs in any DOK without user interaction.
2) the software isn't copied at all, the user needs to manually copy the software to the DOK.
my idea consists of 2 other methods of using the SEE removable storage software:
1) the software will be copied only when a user copy a file to the DOK, this way when the user plugs in a DOK for read-only purposes the software wont bother him.
2) the software will ask a user when he inserts a DOK to the computer if the user is interested in copying the software to the DOK.
I think that its an essential upgrade to the SEE system.
Hope someone would pay attantion to this idea.
thanks.

These options are already available.
You can configure the removable storage to only encrypt (or prompt) when a file is copied to a removable drive.
I think that you didnt understand what i wanted to say.
Im 90% positive that I am not wrong about this.
As far as i can remember, the functionality of copying a the software to the DOK is either everytime or never.
i want ALL the files to be encrypted, but i do not want the encryption software to be copied to the DOK, or the other way around, i want to be able to choose to copy or not to copy the software.

I think I understand now.
You are talking about the Removable Storage Access utility.
Your suggestion is to have it prompt or allow you to install the Removable Storage Access utility on-demand, instead of all the time, or never.
exactly thats what i was trying to say
insted of installing the application everytime (even if you are not copying the file) either prompt the user or decide to install the software only if you are copying the file.
users are complaining that they connect their USB devices to copy files to the corporate network and the software "injects" itself on to the DOK.
