The premise of this idea would be to provide a function similar to VMware DRS but for NetBackup policy scheduling. This feature would provide an option to adjust the policy schedule load balancing to either fully automated or partially automated based on a sliding "star type" scale like DRS. NetBackup would automatically balance fulls vs incrementals (or differentails) between the different days of the week (very helpful for those users performing fulls+incremental or differential spreading the fulls between different days of the week). Today this is a completely manual juggling process to balance load. The feature would also allow certain clients to be excluded from the automated balancing of schedules (ie a client where the full absolutely has to run on a specific day of the week due to system impact) similar to how DRS allows exclusions. This idea has nothing to do with load balancing clients between media servers which already exists to some extent.

Micromanaging NetBackup is

Micromanaging NetBackup is generally against its core principles.

 Generally speaking I agree

Generally speaking I agree with you, but when a user has fulls spread out over the week (some clients have full on mon, some on tues, some on wed, etc.) I should not have to manually manage which ones are on which day. NetBackup should be able to either do this automatically or offer suggestions otherwise it becomes a nightmare to manage load and different days have differing loads and are not spread evenly unless closely monitored.
