Please include a version stamp in the properties of the msi files for EV and DA client.  When upgrading or working with support it is difficult to identify the version of an msi install file for the client.  The msi's names are the same.  Sometimes tech support has used an old msi and caused an install to fail.  It would be nice to have an easy way to identify the files where the techs did not need to know the release date for verification.

On pre vista operating systems, there was a lot of information about the package exposed on the file properties tab. This Summary Information Stream information is no longer shown in some versions of Windows, which is a PITA, although in Windows 7 it appears to have been reinstated (unsurprisingly). You can always use ORCA.exe to inspect a package if the SIS isn't showing up in your version of Windows Explorer.

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/installer-msi-details-not-appearing-vista7-using-wise-7-sp2 - scroll down a bit as the OP was worried about the version resources of the bootstrapper exe, not the nested MSI.

The file names are invariant across versions to save arguments and keep our build scripts clean, and customers often rename packages anyway, so if you want to know the gory details about the version of any Enterprise Vault MSI package, look in the SIS.

One thing we could look at going forward is putting an invisible or unobtrusive control on the welcome dialog containing the full build number of the installer, more for internal QA use, but would probably help in other situations too.

We have implemented the new version indicator in our installer dialogs from 10.0.3 so now you can see exactly what version you are installing. The version is also a lot more visible in the add/remove programs dialog. There was often confusion because the installer product version value is compressed, so now we include the full version in the visible product name.
