I have a policy to export the tape after my backup job completes. This pair of jobs are done at night. The export job will take 20 minutes to complete because there is no one to respond to the alert to remove the tape from the portal. This means that 20 minutes of my backup window is wasted. I don't see why it is mandatory to repond to the remove tape alert. It is not necessary for me to remove the tape immediately. Tech support says that there is currently no way to solve this problem. It will be good to be able to specify in the alert categories a short time to clear this alert.

"A future major release." What "major release" BEWS 112?

Gotta love it. And the part about contacting Symantec Sales? Heheheh. Sales is clueless about real-life tech issues. I'm sure that's not a revelation to anyone on this board!

And, as proof: You know what Symantec Sales does if you contact them as directed by the KB?

I actually tried it for my own issue that had the same boilerplate in a KB article. Just for a laugh. Surprise! They refer you back to Symantec Support. Catch-22.

Which gives me an idea for another Idea...

I have been wondering what is Sales going to do in this case?  Recommend a "better" product or station somebody at my place to respond to the alert every night?

I'd accept either!

Here's the "other Idea" I referred to. Provoked an interesting discussion:

Hi All,

it seems that this issue isn't solved in BE2012.
Bummer, I could use this.

Regards,
