Hello,

NetBackup 6.0: Specifying the NB policy in script is NOT need

NetBackup 6.0: Need to specify NB policy in the scrip

We have newly upgraded the our environment from 6.0 MP4 to 6.5.3

We have to many Oracle DB. And we were using common scripts for all. Because we didn’t need to specify the NB Policy in the script. But it is need to specify to NB policy for NB 6.5 environments due to following document.

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/267589.htm

Therefore, specifying the scripts for each DB agent, is gonna be difficult and NOT useable for us.

Is it possible to use scripts as it was in NB 6.0 software??

It is really important for us.

Please help us.

Thanks. Best Regards.

I think that perhaps you're

I think that perhaps you're reading that technote incorrectly, I'm confident what it reads is, if you don't specify which policy to use the master server will pick a policy and schedule combination which work, i.e., an Oracle type policy with your Oracle server listed as a client, which has an open application backup schedule, but that the schedule it picks may not be the desired schedule.

NetBackup 6.5 does NOT require the use of the SEND statement or the PARMS parameter on the ALLOCATE CHANNEL lines to function, it just ensures that your data ends up being backed up by the correct schedule.
