Currently Backup Exec does not support FIPS 140-2 encryption on x64 platforms. It falls back to AES 128 bit encryption. Is this feature currently in development? If not, when are you planning to support FIPS 140-2 encryption on x64 platforms? Currently Windows 2008 R2 server only works on x64 platforms. This is a huge limitation preventing us from using newer OSes.

Hello,
Thanks for the post. I checked into this and I think we added FIPS 140-2 support for x64 Windows (from 2003 x64 through 2008 R2).
We use an OpenSSL encryption library that we certified for FIPS 140-2. We did add use of this same library for x64 FIPS compliant encryption to BE 2010.
Both the BE Media Server and BE Remote Agent would need to be the 2010 version to work.
Are you having trouble enabling FIPS 140-2 support on your x64 Windows backups?
Let us know
Thanks
Peter
