Getting Detailed Information of an Expired deletion?
Hi,
I was looking at http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/285115.htm and it talked about auditing in detail certain activities. The deletion was one of them. It turns out that the auditing feature does not log information for an expiry deletion , nor any detailed infomation about a deletion, (eg. subject, vault, etc.)
We have had enterprise vault for a few years in our environment and no deletions had ever been performed. We are at a stage where we would like to initiate regularly scheduled deletions, however, there is no way to have an audit trail of 'what was deleted' or better yet, a report of 'what is about to expire). I can get some crypic information, but that is of no assistance if we have a customer coming back to us to question whether a specific email was removed as part of our deletion process.
Can a report like this be included in Enterprise Vault for future, where the details (in plain language, i.e. vault name, date, email subject, etc.) be recorded so that this information can be gathered into a report.
Does anyone know of any 3rd party tools that may do something like this?
What do other companies do? Are we the only ones who wish to know was was removed as part of a deletion run?
Help .....

Expiry Report in Outlook
Hi Denise,
There is an option (on a per user basis) to view the Expiry report. In EV8, look at your Desktop Policy, under the Options tab there is an Expiry Report option. With this option selected, you can see within Outlook (Tools, Enterprise Vault, Expiry Report) the items that will expire in the next 60 days. This may help in the meantime?
Thanks,
BZ
