Can you make the Group Update Providers (GUPS) be able to schedule when they are able to receive updates from the SEPM instead of being always connected to the SEPM all the time?

GUPs are not always connected to the SEPM unless they are set to be by their policy. A GUP in Push Mode will, as all clients, be in constant contact with the SEPM. A GUP in Pull Mode will make connections to the SEPM based on their heartbeat interval. Just a point of clarification.

Hello AKM,
My understanding is that the GUP and SEP functionality are seperate. The GUP portion will only initiate a conversation to the SEPM when a SEP client makes a request that the GUP does not have the data to fill. This request is what initiates the conversation between GUP and SEPM. This is not related to PUSH or PULL intervals. This is an on demand conversation that is started due to a GUP not having data that that a SEP client is asking for.

Can you describe the issue you are experiencing or the reason why you need this enhancement?

Let me take a stab at this request.
We have ~ 250 locations, most of witch connect via slow WAN links. We have been told not to use any bandwidth during the normal business hours of 7:30 am until 5:30 pm. Currently, we update our Management Server once a day at 5:30 pm.
I would like to instruct the GUP to download the latest 10 incremental updates and the full update at 6:00 PM. This way, we should never have a client come on line and request an update the GUP does not have and have it download during the 7:30 am - 5:30 pm window.
Sincerely
Hi Bruce,
Yes that is exactly how I want to to this..is this possible? if so how was it achieved??

Please review and add this in future release.
Would be very helpfull if customer/user wanted to customize their definition update time.
Many has asked if they can schedule it during off-time, the answer always no... ;)
I agree being able to schedule when the GUP pulls updates from the SEPM Server would be very beneficial. That way the GUP can download updates when the network is not being utilized as heavily. Ie scheduling GUP to download during the evening when most users are not working. Thanks in advance.
