I request you all Symantec Employees to work on SEP's Detection rate . There are somany threats which easily passes through sep .

IF you ask  I can tell you a compititor which has much better detection rate than SEP almost 99.99 %.

Why don't you tell us the

Why don't you tell us the competitor and we can discuss? Because i'm sure the competitor may have a better detection rate but at what cost to other features?

I'd agree and disagree with

I'd agree and disagree with this at the same time. :D

Agree coz the detection rate sucked big time a year or so back.

Disagree, coz if you take my post today reg. the new type of Trojan, I'd say the turnaround time was around 2 to 2-1/2 hours at best.

But everyone will have a mixed story to tell.

I agree with Abhishek

I agree with Abhishek.
Sometime back Symantec was having huge issues with Turnaround time after submitting files even in gold support files were left for 5-6 days. But from last year or so.
Symantec Security response has been working very hard to be on time...and i have never seen any reply after 48 hours.

Even the Security response LIasions are doing terrific job by bumping the Submissions, 2nd Look ,Log review and things like that.
Hats OFF to them as well.

I must admit i use Kaspersky

I must admit i use Kaspersky on my personal machines and i find it is excellent for that purpose i.e. on a standalione machine. i haven't had any experience of their enterprise solutions though Symantec just always seemed to be the way to go for large scale rollouts offered the best management functionality.

We need to understand

One thing we need to understand is a Standalone Antivirus will always have higher detection than a Enterprise Antivirus.

The only reason for that is False Positive

An Home User will always rate on the basis of Detection Rate
and a Enterprise User will always rate on the basis of False Positive, Administration and Support and I can guarantee everybody that Symantec's Support is the best, Don't forget Support also means the support you get on this Symantec Forum.

I agree that support is best

I agree that support is best part of symantec but support comes after problem . If less problem then less need for support. if better detection rate then less problem .

So Importance should be given to detection rate.

@ Bijay - Some food for

@ Bijay -

Some food for thought ;)

Less Problem = Less Need for Support (which is directly proportional to ~ ) Properly configured Security and Application / Device Policies to prevent users from bringing malware into the corporate infra = Peace of Mind for the Admins = a Secure and Healthy IT Environment.

:D
