Netbackup clients over the years eventually get an OS upgrade. Unfortuantely the Netbackup administrator seems to frequently be the last one to be told. It woud be nice to be able to check the current OS of a NetBackup client and have it compared to what is defined in the NetBackup policies for that particular client. I have had UNIX clients that are defined in the policy as Solaris be replaced with an AIX box. The UNIX admins will properly remove the solaris binaries and replace them with AIX binaries and backups will continue to run without any errors. However, the policy still has the client listed as Solaris. It would be nice to have a check of the current OS vs the defined OS in the policy.

How about

Why not just have NetBackup periodically go through and update the client OSes defined in the policies by itself ? Just another housekeeping task to do at midnight or such.
Anything would help though.
