Netbackup DLO - Data restoration issue & suggestion for product enchancement
We are currently running : Symantec Netbackup Desktop and Labtop Option 6.1 MP4 (Build 350B14b)
Over the past few months since we updated to the new MP4 we have encountered various problems with the data restoration process.
Of which the most alarming happens when multiple restore jobs are sent to the same pc and become stuck in an endless loop.
Now there are actually three critical issues here :
1 : When multiple restorations are launched from the server to the same pc there exists the possibility that they will stay in constant data restoration loop.
2: No errors or warning messages are displayed either on the client or erver.
3: The only way to "purge" the restore job is to delete the computer object/user profile. (which exposes you to risk complete data loss) <-- This is what Symantec Supports suggests to correct the problem.
I have included a screen capture from the DLO Console after discovering that one of our client pc restoration was yet once again trapped in the endless restoration loop.
As you can see there are 3 pending restore jobs in queue - on the client side, the restoration job finishes and starts again (over and over) giving no error or assurance that it has atleast completed one job correctly. Even if you cancel - the jobs persist, and as soon as you refresh the restoration process begins again into a loop.
My suggestion is simple : I request that there be a way to purge the jobs in queue. (as you can see from the picture above, I have gone ahead and added where this button should be :) )
Thank you & Best Regards,
Luis Vazquez
