Status: Already Offered

We have a large number of shares created on some our servers, but do not back up by share.  We backup by the disk drive letter.  It becomes difficult to see the drive letters buried in amongst all the shares.  It would be nice if there were an option to not display (hide) shares in the backup selection list.

Configured via Backup Exec Tools|Options|Network

Hello,

Thanks for the Idea suggestion. I think we might already have what you are looking for. There should be an "enable user shares" checkbox on the Backup Exec Tools|Options|Network settings screen that allows you to turn on or off the display of the User Created Shares.

If you uncheck the box, Backup Exec will only display the Administrative Shares for each drive e.g. C$, D$, etc. This should shrink the number of visible selections when you browse a server to make selections.

Try it out and let us know if that solves your need or not.

Thanks

Peter

That doesnt work

The option I think you are thinking about allows the backup of user shares but it doesnt hide them when unchecked. Should probably work that way though.

Mine is unchecked and I still see the 100 or so shares on the server takes about 5-10 minutes to access that server from the selection list. Quite frustrating when you want to quickly back something up.
