Even though the name resolution works correctly and able to ping and traceroute to all servers listed in the bp.conf on the master or media server.  Sometimes PBX will try and talk to the server on the wrong interface and therefore can not find it and make the connection.  We have had issues where the media server would not come up, and other cases where the backups were failling with an 811 because the master was reaching out using the backup interface name to the media server.  Using the required_interface works for media servers that only backup themself.  Our core media servers can not use this as they should be using the production interface for EMM and other meta data communication, but communicate to our IP clients is via a private backup interface.  My idea would be something like PBX_INTERFACE = abc123 in the bp.conf or configured with pbxcfg.  Either way something to control the interface used for PBX communications on systems with multiple interfaces.

To answer js88699, I believe

To answer js88699, I believe this value already exists in NBU: see technote http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/286152.htm.

It looks like the REQUIRED_NETWORK setting in bp.conf (not sure what the equivalent would be in Windows since this isn't in the Host Properties).

The technote does a much better job of explaining this than the documentation (NBU Admin Guide I), which is why I assume the technote exists.
