I get the occasional difficult restore from users, where the user knows that she had a file or folder previously, but now cannot find it and wants me to restore it. This leaves me with a needle-in-a-haystack search, looking for file/folders in backups without having any clue where to look. Other backup applications allow you to search their backups for specific filenames, and it would be nice for Netbackup to provice a similar query tool in the restore interface.

I know you said you wanted this in the BAR, but keep in mind you can do this in the Java GUI already. =)

But personally I think it's very poor (even when you can get it to work) & is in need of a re-think.

Java gui you can definitely do it. just get the partial name and search *stuffhere* with the wildcards so it'll find it in the right folders, etc.

This is an area of active development.

I'll share some screenshots when we get a little closer to the release.

Not only will we let you search for files & folders, but we'll let you search across clients. It's neat stuff.

It works in OPScenter (NBU 7.5), but I don't think that it works with emails or Exchange objects.

It would be great to have search for anything from both OPS and BAR

Yeah, I guess they are still hoping everyone switch to using OpsCenter for restores :-)

Did you restore something today?
