One feature I would love to see  in Workspace Virtualization is the possibility to define registry exclusions (similar to the extensions / directory exclusions).

Best regards,
John

Need More Info

Hi John,

Could you please add more info? What exactly would you like to be excluded?

Regards,
Bala

Fetaure Details

John,

I have summed up the below as to what the feature will look like, when implmemented. Please fill in if you would like to add more

Feature:

If you go to layer properties for some layer, there is an exclusions section. Here you can exclude file extensions and/or directories. In a nutshell, a feature of being able to exclude registry keys and values.
This would look like the following:
Registry Excludes Tab
New exclude entry
·                                  Exclude Key OR
·                                  Exclude String Value
·                                  Exclude Binary Value
·                                  Exclude DWORD Value
·                                  Exclude Multi-String Value
·                                  Exclude Expandable String Value

Use Cases: Let’s assume you have virtualized Office 2007. Outlook stores profile stuff in registry. In our case it will go to layer. What if layer gets broken, and only option is to reset the layer. Having this feature will allow user to exclude registry stuff required and keep continue using the re-setted layer.

We have submitted a feature request and it is currently under evaluation by Product Management Team.

 I would really love this

I would really love this feature, it will drastically reduce the time for the helpdesk when they have to reset virtual layers, see Balachandar's Use Case above.
