It is very inconvenient to have different restore types for the same client in the Restore GUI.

We have servers, which are running the same type of backup (Standard, for example). But those clients  have few policies with either different storage units (raw partition and regular tape library, for example), or true image, or disaster recovery info.

It is very easy to miss files with the ‘Restore type’ pull down menu by just not selecting the right restore type.

I think the Restore GUI should be more intelligent to show what restore types are available for a specified source client and date range.

And command like bplist should have an option for combined (all restore types) output. That is extremely important for backup auditing and reporting.

Just to modify this idea

Just to modify this idea slightly, I'd vote to have all backup types shown by default, with the drop-box remaining for when you know you only need to view one particular type of backup. Ditto bplist, have 'show all' be the default behavior, with an option to specificy a backup type if desired.

- "Your backups are only as good as your restores."

John, I like your

John, I like your modification. I think the 'Contents of selected directory' area should have a restore type column. That will clarify what type of restore to select to filter just that type.
