Starting from RU6 (11.0.6000.550) version of Symantec Endpoint Protectio (SEP) there is no more CD1 and CD2 to download, but everything is included in a DVD file, which is over than 1.1 GB. RU6 MP1 (11.0.6100.645) has even more than 1.2 GB of the size.

In case of migration from older versions of SEP - eg. from RU5 (11.0.5002.333) - you cannot migrate directly to RU6 MP1. You need first to install RU6 and then migrate it to RU6 MP1. It means, that you need to download over 2.3 GB of data from https://fileconnect.symantec.com - even if those 1.1 GB of RU6 version will be used only for a very short time...

Would it be better if there will be additionally the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) installation folder available?
This is around 500 MB of size. In case of migration RU5 -> RU6 MP1 you would download then 500 MB of SEPM RU6 + 1.2 GB of RU6 MP1 (600 MB less then before). Then you migrate SEPM to RU6, and with the next step to RU6 MP1 + migrate all clients to RU6 MP1.

agree

I agree. Upgrading shouldn't take this amount of memory. However, I understand that the application gets bigger with increasing features.
Splitting install package to a required and an optional package - as previously in CD1 & CD2 was done - would be best for download. - At least for customers with low bandwidth internet connections, which are still present in some regions of the world.

Send DVD link...

I believe a better option would be a "send DVD" link which would allow customers to request physical media in case of network issues of any sort.
Of course it will not be so fast as downloading from the FileConnect site, but I believe it would avoid confusions with versions.

An important option would be to have a "Environmental Footprint calculator" showing the person the impact of requesting the DVDs vs the download.

They can actually request for a Physical Media in fileconnect.. https://fileconnect.symantec.com/physicalmedia.. they just need to click ship me a CD tab on the Language Selection page.

Cheers!

But it might be quicker downloading via a 56K dial-up modem!

Still waiting for 2 requests to arrive - since March!

Additional reason for that request

Sometimes happen (already twice in September for me) that customers want to change the language of SEPM, but stay with the same language for SEP clients. After the reinstallation of SEPM they will need to add client packages for the clients language. These packages are also in SEPM folder of installation DVD. So another reason not to download full installation package, but only SEPM folder.

What are the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) versions released officially?
