Retention Category Updates Without Shortcuts

A lot of the time, we have customers archive emails without creating shortcuts. In other cases, shortcuts are deleted from the mailbox before the archived items expire. With EV8 we got a greate feature which updates the retention category but it's dependant on the shortcut being in the mailbox. I would like to have the option to update the retention category changes for a folder then all corresponding items in the archive changed (no shortcut required).
