Status: On Roadmap

The LVMVG Agent uses a shell script to monitor the status of the volume group.

In our environment, we have a large number of volume groups (>60) and the monitor script causes an appreciable CPU overhead on the system.  We have had to increase the online monitor interval to 3 minutes in order to reduce the overhead.

If the script were rewritten in C and incorporated into the agent itself, this would eliminate the majority of the overhead.

Although this mainly benefits larger installations, any improvement in performance will benefit all users of VCS on AIX using the LVMVM agent.

(Case 241-003-114 refers, including detailed analysis of overhead)
