Save Me!

I was recently working on an article and I hit the save button. I am pretty sure that it sent it into the system for approval. I eventually figured out how to edit my article. I decided that I wouldn't hit the save button until I was all done. Unfortunately I hit backspace at just the wrong time and lost all of my work. It would be nice if there was a save feature like in Gmail. I would love to save my article as I go. When I am done I would like to press a "submit" button. What do you think?

I've done the same thing

I'd had the same thing happen, though on forum posts.  It is rather annoying!

Like saving a draft? I feel your pain... There's always the "attaching a .doc" option... more work for me but fewer chances of a fatal error for you!

We'll look into this - it's a good idea.  I'm adding it to the list of future features.

Works in Progress

I know your request was for an autosave feature but here's a tip until we figure out automatic saves.

You can save your documents as often as you like. And work on them at your leisure.

Authors can see their unpublished works in the Workspace (Me > My Workspace) area of the site.

Tip: It's always a good practice to clearly mark -- in the first paragraph -- something like "WORK IN PROGRESS, NOT READY FOR PUBLICATION" just to keep the editors from inadvertently publishing your gems before their time.

Google Docs

I usually create my articles in Google Docs. It has worked well for me. When I am done I copy it over to Connect. It would be much easier to just do it once.

ohzone - Thanks for finding the words for me. Drafts is exactly what I am talking about

Kevin - thanks for the heads up. I will follow your advice right now.

Thanks for all of your feedback...

It happened to me Twice

It happened to me twice..
I was writing an article and by mistake I hit the back button and everything was gone
Once I had written a long post and did a CTRL V to paste a link at the end but the box to paste thelink never pop ed up so I had to start everything again..
Sometime..Especially when writing an Article you are on a flow then once the flow break..it becomes very difficult.

The article for which I had hit the back button..I wrote it again in WinWord and then pasted it but that was after 2 weeks.

Draft

I approve this idea ,
ohzone and Peter  , the draft can save really many users from losing time writing again the text. I appreciate your efforts to improve the system and this feature is really helpful for all.
