Currently the options for scheduled scan times are not very robust. We would like the option of being able to select first monday of month, second monday of month, third monday of the month, instead of just a specific date of the month (for monthly scan times).

This idea should have been included in the product since day one

Being able to schedule a monthly scan on the third Saturday of every month, for example, is something that should have been included in the product during the initial planning of SEPM.  Maybe it was, but had to be postponed for some reason.  Now that SEP has been out for nearly two years I would think it would be time to add this feature into SEPM.

Do you want this schedule

Do you want this schedule ability for workstations, servers or both?

If you had the capability to run a scan when the user is not using the computer and for it to pause when they start using it again, would this reduce the need to schedule scans on workstations and laptops?

We are looking for this

We are looking for this ability for both (all end user laptops and desktops). We have active scans run once a week on a specific day of the week, and monthly full scans are run on a specific day of the month. There are some months where these fall on the same day. Our helpdesk gets many complaints when they take place on the same day.. We don't want to have to manually go into the console and readjust every month where there would be a conflict. The ability you mention to not have it run if the user is using the computer is attractive as long as it doesn't mean they won't ever get scanned. However, having both the ability to control scan times AND the ability to not have the scan run if the user is using the PC would definitely improve SEP's scanning options.

Add me to this group...

I have to say I find it disappointing that Symnatec's AV scanning schedule options have been the same for years.  Is it that hard to allow admins more options for scanning schedules?

Being able to scan some clients once every 2 weeks (for example) would do wonders for users acceptance of your product and help take the heat off admins like myself for "slowing down everyone's computer".

I posted a similar idea for

I posted a similar idea for the exact same thing a while back.  I want this to be included in the upcoming release very badly to help with our backups.

See my other idea post about the same thing:

Update from support

I called support looking for this feature and I was refferd to this post. This is such a simple thing to implement why has it not been done? Even windows scheduled tasks allows you to do this.

I did try to find out if you could run RTVSCAN from the command line through scheduled tasks but apparently this is not possible.

Symantec PLEASE put this in your next MR.
