I know this has been mentioned many times (well at least twice!) & it's supposed to be being developed (?) but can we  please, please, PLEASE have the Search Engine improved?

I've spent hours trying to find one post I know I wrote & end up having to "Goo Glit"

 Yep, we're getting really

Yep, we're getting really close to rolling it out.  New search engine, new faceted search to narrow down your results.  I think you'll like it.  I'll keep you posted.

Wanted features

The biggest search feature I'd like to see ia way to narrow down results by date.

For example, limit search results to postings within the last 60 days.  Let me choose the date range.

I'd also love to be able to limit searches to within "My Activity" - areas I've posted to or authored.

Mark this post as the solution, and have good luck for 7 years.
Forget to mark this as the solution, and tomorrow your server will crash.

Back to search results

That is all I want....to be able to go back to my original results without having to resubmit the page data.

Thanks!

An Update

We're currently putting the finishing touches on the new search functionality.  Just to give you a few more details, it will allow:

1) Multi-faceted search (filter any combination of product, community, topic, content type, author, etc)
2) Sortable by date (and clear date stamps in search view)
3) Search for user
4) Higher quality search results

Should be ready within a week or so.

Complete!

The new search functionality is now live.  We're still making a few tweaks to the way the search results page looks, but the functionality is all there.  Let us know what you think!

One possible problem:

had a quick looksee & it appears (to me certainly) that it's only searching or producing results for the original post - what about possible solutions??(afterall that's one of the main reasons, if not THE reason why we would be searching)

e.g.
search for snapmirror
filter by NetBackup
there are only 6 items found/6 authors

BUT I know that I've just posted a reply with that word in response to another poster & neither of our posts appear in the results

***Edit***

OMG!  I've just searched again, but this time for SnapMirror & it's come up with a different set of results (but not what I know I've just posted!) I think we need the case sensitivity to be switched off or given as an option!

Other than that - looking good!?!

***Edit #2***
My first statement may be incorrect - I have identified a few posts other than the original post coming up in search results - but I am still not convinced in the slightest that all results are being displayed for a given search item.
