Sort ALL Clients, as desired, acoss several pages
Am I the first to request the ability to sort clients in SEPM "as desired" across several pages of client information?
IDEA:
In Clients, on the Clients tab, allow us to to click the column header to sort by "Name", for instance, and have ALL the pages sort by Name. Then, I'd not only know what page my client is most likely to be found on, but I would also know I'm seeing ALL the "AA132's" together, or ALL the staff computers on 2nd floor Science building (S200-LLLLLLF).
HERE'S WHY:
At this college, we have naming conventions for rooms, computers and userIDs. In Student Computer Labs, the Computer Names/UserIDs are based on room number and then numeric order. For instance, in the "ARTS" building Computer Lab in room "A132", there are 25 computers, so they're named A132-01, A132-02, -03, ...-25. I have all our Student Lab computers in groups. There are typically at east 4 or more pages of Student Lab clients in each of these groups. The same naming convention applies to staff Computer Names (ie, "A117-DOEJ").
For varying reasons, I often need to locate one, or perhaps a couple individual clients. Currently, I can sort page 1 by clicking on the desired column header, but the other 3 pages are not included in my sort. So, if the "Name" A132-01 doesn't happen to be on p1, clicking the "Name" column header to sort by Name won't re-list the clients and put A132-01 amongst ALL the other "A"s. Currently, since A132-01 could be on any of the other pages, I have to click "Next" to view p2, etc. etc. Locating staff computers is worse: all staff computers are in groups based on college Division, so there can be 10 or more pages of clients in each of those groups, and the names are much less 'orderly'.
Thanks for considering this idea.
BONUS: It'd be a real bonus to have a "Status Bar" at the bottom of this Clients window that showed us "how many" clients we currently have selected, and/or the grand total in that particular group. This would be really handy when I'm verifying that all 25 computers in a given room are present and accounted for, or have all upgraded to version 'whatever', or to follow-up on a Help Desk call.
